when the hell did cable news turn into react streams. I'm in a diner and they've got fox news up on the tv, shit is either them sucking off charlie kirk (lmao) or cnn clips, which is crazy considering they're basically ideologically aligned atp.

capitalizing readers like we're some sort of special creature is crazy
some fucking bullshit, you can maybe almost make out one side of Saturn's rings near the bottom left side of the lower blob if you're delusional
thrilling sequel to these decent photos, some abysmal dogshit from last week where I """""attempted""""" to take a photo of Saturn. long exposure + no mount for the phone on the eyepiece + not crazy high magnification so it was still kinda small (though two moons were visible) leads to this garbage.
at least the photos came out decently because with how bright the damn thing is it really fucked up the stargazing lmao
a photo of approximately 80% of the moon
photo of a big crater and the terminator on the moon
another photo of approximately 80% of the moon
took some photos of the moon through a 14 inch scope, not perfect but could be worse
kind crazy that it can just do that, always heard about the pixel camera being solid but damn
oh yeah must be it, guess the smearing must be just some minor imperfections in the process
doesn't look like it compensates for that, the brighter stars (for example the one in the top left) look pretty smudged to me. can't really think of how one would really compensate for that from just a software perspective as well tbh
ah wrong qt whatever this shit sucks ass man
dude I fucking hate nyc summer so much this shit sucks so much fucking ass man it's night why does it still feel like a god damn swamp here fuck this man
a view of the old town of istanbul off of a ferry going from europe to asia
some tower visible in the bosphorus straight from the asian side of istanbul, I don't remember literally anything about it I was actively dying of dehydration at this moment in time I think
a view of the basilica cistern with lots of columns and shit in it
oh also saw some shit but didn't really take any good photos lmao
a cat sitting outside the masoleum of one of the sultans of the ottoman empire but I legit can't remember which one it is
a cat asleep on a seat at a ferry station
a photo of a very friendly black and white cat
a photo of two cats on a windowsill
3 cats in a public square
four cats hanging out near a black van
heading back to the states tomorrow, so I've gotta return to the classic tradition of positing photos of the animals I've seen here. Not an exhaustive accounting of all of them because I've seen a truly insane number of stray cats over the past couple of days, but still fairly representative.
regardless of what your opinions on tatsuki fujimoto are i do appreciate how you can tell that guy has a deep burning hatred for both the united states and the entire state of the world under american hegemony
I pitched the NYT on this and they passed cause "all democrats are good with LGBTQ people"
Zohran Mamdani is the only democrat in the mayoral race that released an LGBTQ platform and the only democrat in the country (that I know of) to commit to safeguarding gender affirming care for youth + adults with $$.
Zohran looking out on a victory night crowd.
In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until itβs done.
My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.
I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.
No safe seats!!!!
You can't literally primary everyone.
But you can make everyone afraid of being primaried, and that will change a lot.
it is genuinely incredible that zohran's campaign completely annihilated the democratic commentariat and party cadre mainstreaming of the idea that you need to concede palestine and trans rights to the zionists and republicans to 'gather votes'. lmfaoooo
an error screen from the marathon alpha saying that there has been a networking error and that in order to diagnose it, one should search for the error code "weasel". this is a reference to the hit game destiny 2 which also features error code "weasel", much like its predecessor destiny 1 did
oh also, you're never fucking safe from the weasels man
but hey at least it proves that when they really want to, bungie can, at least as far as I've been able to tell, have dedicated servers lmao.
I'll continue playing the alpha, maybe there's something that I'm just not seeing right now, but I don't think that I'm going to spend all my time doing that. I just don't know why this game exists.
to support this game in the long run. I hope I'm wrong, because the moment to moment gameplay is pretty solid. there's a part of my brain that really wants to like this game, despite everything that I think about bungie, but I just don't see it doing enough that is interesting to make it worth it.
again, you can just play with randoms, but there's a level of coordination that's just missing there which took me out of it a bit. it's just still so baffling to me why they decided to make this game. I just can't see how what it does differently is interesting enough to a large audience
about all of that stuff, so it's just a big waste of time.
to summarize, my first impressions of marathon are that it's fine, but in 2025 fine isn't really enough to get the people I know super interested in it, which kind of kills any sort of long term interest in the game for me.
so again, why did they make this game? it's not bad, it's just not anything phenomenal. it's totally fine, but with everything that bungie has been going through in recent years I doubt that's enough. I don't want to linger on that too much as ultimately nobody outside of bungie knows too much
having spoken briefly with some friends of mine, they all seem to be mildly interested (at best) in marathon, but not with it being pay to play. I don't think it's a bad game, but I also don't think I'd even be giving it a chance without having access to the alpha.
the reason that I'm bringing this up is that while you can play solo with randoms, the game is clearly designed around playing with coordinated teams, which in practice means playing with friends. again, I've had fun paying solo, but I can easily see it being more fun with friends.
