It may not be another Knepp but good to see Castle Howard returning 440 acres to nature

Cartoon of boy saying “Dad! I think we need to talk about birds, bees and flowers” to his father who is mowing the grass. The boy is standing in an area of long grass in which mammals, birds, insects and flowers are thriving.
Please help bees, butterflies and birds by reducing the mowing next year! By leaving a patch of grass in your garden to flower you'll be helping wildlife while reducing effort, cost and carbon emissions. Cartoon courtesy of the wonderful @sepponet.bsky.social

Today is Fibonacci Day.
Introduced to Europe in 1228 by Leonardo Fibonacci, it begins with any number which is then added to its neighbour 1, 2, 3, 5 etc
This spiral pattern often appears in Nature - eg the left & right spiral in a sunflower.
This Fibonacci pavement is at Leicester Botanic Garden
I tell my secret? No indeed, not I;
Perhaps some day, who knows?
But not today; it froze, and blows and snows ❄️❄️❄️

Brilliant!
Know the feeling!
UK bumblebee populations have crashed recently. Help them – and other pollinators – by growing plants that flower in autumn, winter & early spring. Many bumblebees and butterflies hibernate, but they can be active on warm days, and will need food!

Best of luck!
I’ll be interested to hear what you think
Let me know when you have…. Perhaps it was a mistake to go to the Medieval Women exhibition at the British Library on the same day!
Has anyone been to Lost Gardens of London exhibition at the Garden Museum? I’d love to know what you thought
A glimpse of Wingfield Manor in Derbyshire.
Built in 1440s for Ralph Cromwell, Treasurer to Henry VI, it was later bought by Earls of Shrewsbury. Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned here three times.
And in 1596, one of the first flushing loos was installed!
It is currently closed (English Heritage)
Still finding my way round here but please can you add me too - thanks
