On the contrary, the AT ecosystem got a bunch of VC funds that a lot of fedi devs aren't interested in. Values often don't align here.

I am, despite everything, not that involved in the ATProto scene!

That said, from experience, it's less about the tech and more about the manpower. You can totally do this if you have enough people dedicated to such a project.
