… you’ve already seen before, and that’s a strong (slightly shameful) signal that it’s time to get back to work.

The more you can keep the feed finite, the easier it’ll be for social media to become a momentary breath of air when you’re stuck, rather than a detrimental time suck.

The greatest hack that I have for this? And it *works*?

Keep your follow count LOW.

If you follow a small number of accounts (I recommend a few hundred MAX), your social media feed can’t become an infinite scroll. If you go for more than a few minutes, you *will* start to recognize posts…

You mean… differentiating dramatic dialogue from written prose?

To slightly adapt my favorite line of dialogue from Company:

Do you know if other people did to us what AI is doing to us, they could be put in jail?

Come on.

It doesn’t matter if any particular AI agent is conscious or not, it matters that they are 1) not people 2) are being given the power and responsibility of people - esp. by gov’ts and corps - the downstream effects of which are not turning out to be very pro-social, to put it lightly (IMAGINE THAT!)

*highly recommend only asking for advice about writing, directing, and audio fiction, otherwise this could get pretty funky pretty fast 🤪
