Yeah I’ve loved the series since ‘95, lurked RASFWRJ, printed the WOTFAQ at the library, commented on tor(dot)com reread posts, etc… and the show-haters have just gotten so toxic. They jump into any thread, post, whatever and make it all about that.
Sad. BSKY is the last refuge I’ve found.

Book vs Show fan nonsense, mostly stuff like “Real book fans hate the show, so if you liked it or miss it you’re not a real fan.” And variations on that theme.
Have you ever left a fandom? Just said “Nope, this is getting too toxic for me. I’ll still enjoy the property, but I’m done engaging.”
After TLJ I left #StarWars
Now #WheelOfTime is starting to slide in that toxic direction — not here, but literally everywhere else.

Politics has officially adopted fandom discourse rules: frame a loaded binary, demand visible allegiance, clip the reaction, declare moral victory. The SOTU “stand up” moment wasn’t persuasion. It was engineered outrage for campaign ads.
At SOTU the president told everyone who thinks the gov’t should protect citizens “not illegal aliens” to stand, then whined when Dems didn’t.
It’s a false dichotomy. You can protect citizens and give due process.
They’re not standing for a racist dog whistle.

You can actually interact with the world that is open when you're normally working. I don't know how people are expected to, for example, make doctors appointments or go to their bank when the only hours they're open are while those people are at work.

Bottle Episodes were great. Just pure character work. As with many things, restraints force creativity, and the budget restraints on those "filler" episodes gave us some really great moments that wouldn't have been allowed to breathe otherwise.

The line that bothers me in this @politico.com article is the one where they say the issue is prompting quiet concern.
That his sycophants are still keeping their concerns QUIET tells me there is no bridge too far. He really could shoot someone in Times Square.
