State Sen. Brownsberger criticizes Boston tax proposal as public pressure increases His comments come as the window to act on the proposal tightens.

Grateful to my State Senator Liz Miranda who is advocating for action & protecting working families & long-time homeowners.

We can’t lose focus of the real impact these increases will have on residents & families. Who will support these businesses if folks continue to leave an unaffordable Boston?

Complex highway interchange from the air

Complex highway interchange from the air

Never forget, car dependency isn’t freedom.

Some might ask “what’s more free than cars?”

Choices.

Choices are more free than car dependency.

It’s not a hard concept.

I’m not pitting cars against any other single mode of transport.

I’m rejecting design that creates dependency on just one mode.

A New Study Proves Criminalizing Homelessness Doesn’t Reduce Homelessness "The deterrence logic doesn’t hold": A recent analysis finds that encampments bans and other local ordinances aimed at unhoused populations don't actually lead to decreased homelessness.

Clearing encampments and throwing people in jail does NOTHING to actually get Americans off the streets.

Homelessness is not a personal failure, it’s a policy failure. Congress must pass my Housing Not Handcuffs Act with @frost.house.gov.

My Democratic colleagues and I just left the state of Texas to break quorum and stop Trump’s redistricting power grab.

Trump is trying to rig the midterm elections right before our eyes. But first he’ll have to come through us.

It’s time to fight back.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Mass. Democrats reach rules deal they say will make lawmaking more transparent - The Boston Globe The Legislature has long been criticized for operating with a level of opacity that keeps residents from knowing what's really going on at the State House.

Shoutout @act-on-mass.bsky.social and everyone who advocated for more transparency from our state government. We deserve to know how our elected officials vote in committee. We, the people who put these officials in their seats, must continue to hold them accountable. Now, let’s pass some bills.

The only way to solve Boston’s traffic is to get cars off the road.

Encouraging mode shift by getting some people out of their cars and onto public transit or walk/bike as able is the best way to do that.

Anything else is just hollow political rhetoric.

Excerpt from an article about ranked choice voting that reads, “Alongside refiling the ranked-choice voting bill, Rausch has filed a more comprehensive piece of legislation this session that would reduce the need for legislative review of local home rule petitions including but not limited to enabling ranked-choice voting.

“There is very good policy behind the concept of wanting state legislative review for local work that has statewide impact,” Rausch said. “We should keep it for those types of home rule petitions. But those types of home rules are very few and far between.””

Excerpt from an article about ranked choice voting that reads, “Critics decry ranked-choice voting as too complicated for people to understand, arguing that it undermines the intuitive principle that a person would like to vote for a single favored candidate. If a voter only feels strongly about one candidate, but that candidate gets the fewest number of first choice votes, opponents say the voter’s choice is essentially thrown away after the first round of counts.”

Stoked to see ranked choice voting in Boston move forward! We can’t let false beliefs in the ability of voters stop us from implementing more representative ways of voting.

Believe in Boston voters. We are resilient, and can learn and adapt!
