photo of my wrist with two armband tattoos. the first one is a bird from my game waste eater, the second one is the distance indicator from proximate

To paraphrase a friend: stay on the path, make good things. Indie has always flourished in the face of AAA distraction. Times are bad, but let others deskill, pivot to nonsense or chase impossible outcomes. People really like playing videogames. Suits forget that every 6 months or so.
Key Fairy is officially released!
Buy it, lest ye be slain!

Available today, Key Fairy is a not to be missed 2026 title and quickly became one of my favourite Aussie made games.
Impeccably designed, beautifully curious, and just a downright blast of five hours I had with this one.

i've held off on making a site for proximate because 1) i don't really enjoy webdev that much, and 2) it seems a bit redundant when my store pages and press kit already has everything people need. i did not consider the angle of "if i don't make a site for my game then some jackass's ai agent will"
someone made what i assume is a vibe-coded website for proximate pretending to be me? unsure what, if anything, to do about this. pretty weird

βFour of my children just evaporated,β Badran said, holding back tears. βI looked for them a million times. Not a piece was left. Where did they go?β
There are no words to adequately describe the evil here.
watched iron lung. it sure is a film
tr-49 is so good...
SECOND HAND COMPUTER IS OUT!
SHC is a sort of vibes-based programmable #FantasyComputer designed to mimic my own experiences getting a second-hand computer too crappy to run graphical games.

sucks out there
NEW VIDEO
Last year, Steam banned Vile: Exhumed, a twisted horror experience that pulls no punches, and one of my favourites of 2025. Here's why I loved the game, and why it was wrong of Steam to ban it (and other titles too...)

The games industry has a long history of glorifying and normalising military violence. A blurring of βwar and playβ that both militaries, militaristic organisations and the games industry benefit from.
This has been happening before digital games existed, but has been amplified massively by them.
2 white boxes with pink swirls on them the chinese text on the left one says PROGYNOVA Estradiol valerate tablets, while the one on the right says Debian GNU/Linux install media
thinking about how the chinese trans community calls estrogen "debian install media"
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place
Volunteering is not unethical. It's not exploitation to willingly give your labour and your love to something that gives you back all of it and more - connection, celebration, opportunities, a platform, created by you, for you. We need to reexamine this idea, this fear, that every time we do something for free, it means we've been robbed, and every time we ask someone to do something, it's manipulation. I know how it feels to be in this position, but it's killing our communities. It's killing our relationships. We are not businesses, we are people, and the things we want to give and receive are numerous. I hope we can change how we view this, because if we can only get things done with money, we let the people with capital dictate everything that happens.
one more thing about freeplay, and an issue that's been on my mind for a while (alt text available):
An update: Unfortunately Freeplay didnβt secure multi-year funding and is potentially looking at its last year of operation. Weβre exploring what comes next & want your input.

Again it is something that people in previous eras have commented on but I still find it just astonishing to witness in my own: fascism is somehow the natural ideology of loser men, just all of our most pathetic and contemptible instincts rendered into a worldview.
lots of bundlers reaching out trying to get me to sell proximate for one dollar on their storefronts when i'm already selling it for five dollars on my storefronts. unsure of how this is supposed to benefit me
if you want to see more evil transgender lesbians who work tech jobs and call each other cunts then literally just come to melbourne
i've had people comment that they love the universe and worldbuilding of proximate and want to see it expanded. which is wild to me because it's literally just australia
the more i work out the longer the dog gets... i'm at the gym expanding my dog
For over a decade I have tied my shoes one specific way: Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot. I learned it from Ian (aka Professor Shoelace) whose site is over two decades old. The knot has never failed me. I spoke with Ian about knots and the dangers of the modern internet. aftermath.site/ians-shoelac...
