Learned that I am being laid off from Heart Machine, and will be leaving the studio later this month.
Do you need a contractor? I've got a track record of leading scope-friendly script revisions late in dev. I have also done a lot of consulting on new IPs and pitches/demos. Feel free to DM me!
Haven't read this yet but syslbnth's Yu-No essay is one of my all-timer pieces of games writing so I'm sure this is also good: syslbnth.neocities.org/htxt/cave-st...

I took a Bitsy game I never finished, about a maple syrup heist, and turned it into a poetic memoir about finishing things, for a @gamepoems.bsky.social submission. I'm told it will be shared this weekend at the Winchester Poetry Festival in the UK, which I'm excited about. Takes ~5 mins to play.

Crafting Interactive Fiction with Bitsy. With Anna Anthropy. September 28 to October 19. 4 weeks online workshop, 150 minutes per session.
What if a work of fiction were more like a space β something readers could wander, struggle against, push at the boundaries of? Digital games let us weave interactivity, spatiality and friction into storytelling. In this class, weβll use Adam Le Douxβs Bitsy β a free browser-based game tool β to create interactive narratives. If you love storytelling and want experiment with new tools to tell new kinds of stories, this class is for you. Beijing Time: September 28, October 5, October 12, October 19, Sundays, 9:00 - 11:30 AM New York Time: September 27, October 4, October 11, October 18, Saturdays, 9:00 - 11:30 PM
Our 150-minute workshops will consist of guided tutorials, artistic discussions and creative exercises. Over the course of four meetings, participants will write, develop and revise a work of original interactive fiction. At the end of the class, outstanding projects will have the opportunity to be featured in an exhibition at Accent Sisters in New York.
Anna Anthropy is a game designer, educator and cyborg. Her work, both digital and tabletop, explores themes of queerness, kink and disability. Her most well-known digital games include dys4ia and Lesbian Spider-Queens of Mars; some of her recent tabletop work includes Coldbloods, The Fool's Journey, and the award-winning Forgotten Palaces. Anna is the author of several books on games and game design, including A Game Design Vocabulary, Rise of the Video Game Zinesters, ZZT, and the Make Your Own Video Games! series from No Starch press. She has shown work in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the Museum of the Moving Image in New York. She lives in Chicago with a little black cat named Encyclopedia Frown.
I'm excited to announce I'm going to be running a four-week remote workshop on creating interactive fiction with #bitsy starting at the end of September! Games created in the workshop will be featured in an exhibition at Accent Sisters in New York, with whom I'm partnering on this project!
