Anyway, don’t all these lists ultimately end in hand-waving and the answer, “safe, reliable three-pin plugs”?

Roughly this approach has been tried before, in exactly the same place: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanker_... Key line: "In total, well over 100 sailors were killed and a similar number wounded."
Does FIFA do a prize for economics
I'm aware of those. Some of them were in a report by David Begg, whom I've known since I was a reporter at the Scotsman.
But they're for a standard gauge light rail system.
I fear my father's beloved 1,219mm gauge tiny track loop will never be extended.
Net zero looking a bit perkier today huh
PIPE DREAM If I could choose the hour in which Death chooses me And the way in which It will make its arbitrary choice I can think of nothing better than To fall asleep near midnight In a boat as it enters a new port, In a boat with a clarity of stars Above and below it; And all around me Bright music and voices Singing in a language Not known to me. I'd like to go that way, Tired and glad, With all my future before me, Hungry still For the fat and visible globe.
I was introduced to this gorgeous Brian Patten poem today…. Maybe you will like it too.
He had a lot of plans to extend his beloved railway. It remains the world’s third oldest underground and the only one never extended.
Nevertheless, there’s a bunch of people that could have had normal commutes tomorrow if people had listened to John Wright.
The plan by my father - chief engineer of the underground- was to convert the Maxwell Park side. I can’t help thinking that might have been because it ran past our house. The Queens Park side has higher traffic levels and would have been better suited.
Glasgow commuters tomorrow will be ruing that my late father’s plan to turn half of the Cathcart Circle into an extension of the underground (now rebranded subway) were never acted upon. They could have been freed of dependence on Central Station.
I worked as a kitchen porter in the hotel very briefly when a student.
Glaswegian here. It’s quite correct to say the motorways were a piece of vandalism: as.ft.com/r/e2569c50-6...
It still looks like the fire hasn’t actually spread to the station. But this still looks like a catastrophic fire for central Glasgow. And I feel very sorry for the rail personnel tonight trying to figure out how to offer a service without using Scotland’s busiest station.
Reddit screenshot from Glasgow thread. Bright flames rising out the side of a Victorian building.
Video screenshot from Reddit. Building is now a shell with flames visible in every window.
The roof has collapsed embers rise into the night sky.
The fire at Glasgow central station is utterly devastating. Shops, homes and our transport link to England are being wiped out.
I am amazed by the limited news coverage.
At the risk of boring everyone,a little context.
$100 oil in isolation isn’t that bad. It averaged around that level from 2011-2014 without severe economic ramifications*.
It’s the pace of the rise that has people spooked. And not knowing where it might stop.
Shop sign reading “Unique Shoes”.
I dunno, man. This is a product I prefer to buy in matching pairs.
I have argued before that English unionists have a very shallow view of the U.K., regarding each of the other three nations as merely smaller Englands. That so misses the point.
But self-confident.
Obviously, league is bigger. But there is still a union presence in the town.
Orrell used to be a big noise in rugby union. There was a documentary series many years ago about how Wigan was obsessed with rugby of both codes, focusing on both Wigan Warriors and Orrell.
a black and white British Rail poster titled "The argument for electrifying our railways, will become clearer in time." with four panels showing scenes from 1978, 1987, 1995 and 2005 with oil running out over that period

Dorset Cereals too.
He was a registered lobbyist, I think.

The key line is the end. He was Keir Starmer’s director of political strategy. It’s a muddled piece and explains eloquently why strategy has been such a mess.
You say I’m “unkempt”. I say I’m rebranding as the world’s first looksminnsing influencer.
It’s OK. I’m sure North Korea will tidy it all up.
Love the cyclist sailing through the middle of this mess. Very much “you guys carry on, I’ve got places to be.”
