you're going to have so much fun, I have my own LF camera.
just be prepared to spend half an hour to line up the perfect shot ๐
dumb question: doesn't really fast charging cause higher wear on the battery cells / more heat generation? I don't know what current battery tech is like for EVs to know whether these are issues or not.
Markup is a general term for languages/systems that describe the structure/formatting of a document, html and LaTeX are other classic examples. Markdown is a specific format and its name is a riff off of the term "markup".
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markup_... vs.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markdown
an umbrella would be cute for the atmosphere metaphor
I guess there's also a goose on the conference merch as an unofficial mascot?
I remember some discussion that the "@" symbol not being as meaningful cross-culturally as well.
I hope this gets attention and support
update: this had nothing to do with Blacksky's PDS (I just assumed b/c it was the last one I migrated off of) and it was just bsky's mushroom PDS not deactivating the account.
w o a h
I guess I had the jackvalinsky.com handle on both bsky pds and selfhosted.social , ok that can lead to confusion wrt. this specific issue
ok I tried logging in on the bsky PDS (not selfhosted social) and I was able to deactivate that account.
@surfdude29.ispost.ing try replying?
Oh weird! It gave me a reset code for my current account handle jackvalinsky.com
update: I tried jvalinsky.bsky.social and was able to get a temp code for password reset but when I went to either use pdsmoover or simply log into bsky.app with the old account it didn't work ๐ค
but I was able to do password reset...
I just tried for what I think was the issue and got:
handle returned no did; handle=jackvalinsky.blackskycomra.de
note: I moved off of Blacksky onto Selfhosted.social to respect the wishes of Blacksky users who did not like the *.blackskycomra.de handle and to support Bailey
heh I keep forgetting to until surf tries to reply to me ๐คญ
Stuff can and will be taken out of context even if you feel justified, just remember to take a break sometimes and remember your goals. It won't always be easy, but Bsky does need better communication to its users. Good luck.
I think Rudy had some good advice:
witchsky.app/profile/did:...
Ok to be perfectly honest it felt like you misread both of us and then doubled down. There's a big difference between believing in a magical AI god built by man and being concerned about what current models can do today, "AI-safety" doesn't have to mean preventing SkyNet, it can also be more mundane
stating that something can improve is not the same as glorifying it... like for an extreme example we have better nukes now but I wouldn't say that's a good thing
I don't understand the resistance to being simply concerned about the impact of new technologies?
I'm having a hard time figuring out what you are arguing for? Or at least you're misreading me.
No one is suggesting this tech isn't overhyped, sure. But rejecting OP's argument is like saying that there is no concern about AI improving in any capacity... that feels irresponsible?
There's a mountain of difference between simply improve and fundamental limits of an approach.
It's also disingenuous to suggest this isn't a problem people have been working on for years by now, ex: see @letta.com for a complex memory system. Also just basic en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retriev...
I'm writing that one down, thanks for the chuckle.
yeah I got that, my response was meant to be sarcastic/ironic like "what...?/excuse me?"
Yeah there's been experiments by people recreating LLMs scratch w/ ok performance on benchmarks and then there's distillation and quantization methods for not having to start from scratch.
> how the tech is constructed
What a disgrace to Aaron Swartz's memory how big corps get away w/ ip theft
tbf idk what I was thinking, whatever works and is feasible
