We are currently outside the ICE Broadview concentration camp where Sunny Naqviβs family believes her to be held after being detained in OβHare by federal authorities.
We've just learned that the person at the MHRA whose letter caused Wes 'I follow the clinical evidence' Streeting to cancel the puberty blockers trial is Professor Jacob George, the GC who enjoyed mocking trans people on his social media account.
Why did Wes Streeting cover up his name?
Bebe Barron
Wendy Carlos
Daphne Oram
Laurie Spiegel
These remarkable women of early electronic music pushed the boundaries of technology and composition, turning circuits, sine waves, and tape loops into music. https://disc.gs/3ZWRk1U
I can't count how many times I've read it - I feel it's Pterry at his best.

"So what are you reading for #IrelandReads day?"
"Going for a classic: Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus"
"Such a tale of woe."
"Up there with Shakespeare's best. How 'bout you?"
"Bit of dark comedy for me: Death And The Penguin."
"Nice. And you, Beryl?"
"Magpie Murders, hoping for a few good tips"
The picture us of two books sitting side by side, face out, on red checked tablecloth. The first is Home Economics by Caitriona Lally, the second is Night Watch by Terry Pratchett.
It's #IrelandReads day - what are you reading today?
For me it's Home Economics by Caitriona Lally, a memoir due out this April, and Night Watch by Terry Pratchett, an old favourite.

Salma Yaqoob @SalmaYaqoob Almost feel sorry for the haters who are trying to spin Muslims voting for a woman in a party led by a gay Jewish man is evidence of Islamist sectarianism In fact it's evidence of genuine tolerance, rejection of superficial identity politics and ability to prioritise tackling common concerns of cost of living, protecting public services and rejecting war mongering. And the promotion of mutual respect and individual freedoms. The coming together of people is terrifying for the ruling elites.
Totally this.
The rightwing hate βjournalistsβ are spinning Muslims voting for a woman in a party led by a gay Jewish man as Islamist sectarianism.
Check out this whole thread. Minneapolis and Saint Paul are still hurting. Folks are cautiously coming out of shelter, but need food to get them through until paychecks start up again or new jobs are found. ZCC is my mutual aid! Laura and I have been working together! Please share widely!

Ireland's government wants to make us a digital slop farm.
And in the process, almost certainly miss climate targets.
Very few jobs or tangible benefits, but easily wowed and awed by big tech.

It seems all Kansas-issued trans drivers' licenses are invalid, effective tomorrow
It is now illegal for trans people to drive a car until they surrender their license at a DMV (that most will need to drive to) and have it reissued with the wrong gender marker
This was never about woman's sports
I also really like standwithminnesota.com -- they have a lot of direct aid links and that's DEEPLY needed. We still don't have an eviction moratorium and getting more formal rent assistance takes time that families don't have before they lose their homes.
I can do confidently to 1400. 1300 and 1200 just about navigable. Past that, hopeless.
βThe purpose behind the release of herbicide on the villages remains unclear.β
Israel has been dumping herbicides throughout southern Lebanon as part of a concerted ecocide campaign to render the region uninhabitable. This has been going on for months with Lebanese journalists & environmentalists regularly reporting on it.
The BBC: we donβt know why the Israelis are doing it
everyone loved the tech industry's free music and friendship machines of 20-30 years ago. it's unclear what could be causing people to feel the opposite about the industry's new racism and insanity machine

Dr Anthony Delaney stands on stage, flanked by a harpsichord and a cello, holding a rock aloft while speaking. He is clad in a magnificent sky blue banyan (a Georgian era dressing gown for gentlemen).
The sky blue cover of Queer Georgians by Dr Anthony Delaney. It depicts a gentleman of the era wearing a fine coat and powdered wig.
Wonderful evening on Thursday last in the Sugar Club, listening to Dr Anthony Delaney read from his history book Queer Georgians, accompanied by The Irish Baroque Orchestra on harpsichord, cello & violin.
A fabulous & special event!

Screenshot of an IG post showing a face out if Queen of Coin and Whispers by Helen Corcoran (an Irish author, by Irish publisher O'Brien Press) on a bookshelf in Tertulia Bookshop.
Tertulia Bookshop is one of my favourite bookshops - popped by there in 2020 and had a great chat about all the design elements in the shop. Found books by Irish authors/publishers too!
