From a child development perspective: 4yos learn through observation & imitation. They copy the people around them to understand the world. Respectfully, she does not gaf about gender expression. She just sees something interesting and wants to try it. That’s normal childhood curiosity not ideology.

A 4yo that is NOT out of mascara because she plays with an art brush and dips it in water. That is her mascara. But with that said, lemme get my child’s mascara ready. She obviously has plans.

I forgot my 4yo told me she was out of eye markers (mascara) and I needed to grab her some.

Until adults take accountability, kids will keep responding the way their nervous systems know how to survive. Children aren’t “bad” just to be bad. Research shows much of what gets labeled as bad is the result of neglect at the relational and systemic level.

Confusing compliance with progress is doing a number in our homes and schools. A child can say “no” because they’re reasoning. A child can say “yes” and not understand what’s asked of them. Agreement isn’t the same as learning.

The cons of being the girl the family likes. Niggas think that access is forever. I rebuke it in the name of Jesus. Now I gotta block your aunt too for telling my business.

A n*gga in my fb inbox I haven’t spoken to since I was 21. I will be 39 on Tuesday.
I don’t think I’ve ever blocked anybody so fast.

Your children may not love every decision you make, but if they dislike being around you, that’s not something to ignore. That’s a call to repair the relationship.

Learning about yourself through the lens of your children is eye-opening. I want my kids to know their feelings about me matter. We can’t build a healthy relationship if their experiences with me aren’t valued.
Contrary to popular belief, likability DOES matter in parenting.

Lol she’s still a child. If adults can make beads universal, putting an age limit on barrettes is silly. I’m only curious about if the little girl is happily choosing to wear barrettes at her age. At this age is when girls are usually given more autonomy with hair choices. Is that context provided?

I’m just glad he said “can” and not “will.” Food spoilage isn’t automatic. It depends on things like temperature, oxygen exposure, moisture, and whether the container is sealed.

Unrealistic expectations and undefined expectations are failing us. No real structure just pressure and force causing anxiety.
We are supposed to be the ginger-ale not the stomache, if you will.
Be the remedy. If you can’t be the remedy, be the one that helps them find it.

It is not our job to make life harder for our children. Life already has hands. Ain’t no need in jumping our babies.

A quick google search reveals a quote from him on Japanese Internment camps:
"If we want to win, we've got to kill J*ps, whether it depresses John Haynes Holmes or not. We can get palsy-walsy afterward with those that are left."
(He later walked some of those feelings back w/ Horton Hears a Who!)
