Yesterday, I cast two solemn and important votes that spoke to our civil rights and security as well as upholding the U.S. Constitution. I wanted to share my thoughts with you the Homeland Security (ICE/CBP) funding bill and War Powers resolution.
This bill will help innovate and pioneer solutions to the challenges facing our country's agricultural producers.

Yesterday, Rep. Franklin (FL) & I introduced our bipartisan Land Grant Research Prioritization Act, H.R. 7734, which allows land grant institutions to apply for competitive USDA grants to support farm mechanization & agricultural AI applications, invasive species & aquaculture research initiatives.
I will continue to work in Congress so that military families have practical tools and trusted connections as they navigate one of the most important transitions of their lives.
On Wednesday, I met with veterans who work with Blue Star Families. During the meeting we discussed legislation on which I am working and will introduce that helps military families successfully transition to civilian life.
I am working to make sure Congress keeps investing in people to help them get the education and training, including apprenticeships, they need to find gainful employment in our communities.
Yesterday, I met with Eckerd Connects, which is the only non-profit that operates Job Corps centers nationwide, including Turner Job Corps Center in Albany, GA. I am the Co-Chair of the Congressional Job Corps Caucus with Representative Brett Guthrie (R-KY).
I look forward to seeing the creativity of our gifted 2nd Congressional District high schoolers and recognizing them for their hard work!

I will continue to work hard in Congress to maintain federal programs and funding that partner with state and local communities to provide Georgians with affordable, safer roads and communities as well as clean water and reliable utilities.
Organizations like RCAP help communities bridge the gap to improve water systems and, by extension, quality of life for hardworking families and small businesses in Georgia.
Small communities with a limited taxpayer base work hard to sustain vital services, but these often include costly capital improvement projects for roads and bridges, water and utilities, and public services and safety that cannot be accomplished alone.
Yesterday, I met with the Georgia Rural Community Assistance Program (RCAP) to talk about how Congress can support rural communities to meet the challenges they face, including being able to provide affordable, safe water and maintaining costly wastewater systems.

Specialty crop producers have until March 13, 2026, to report 2025 acres to USDAβs Farm Service Agency (FSA).
U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is providing $1 billion in Assistance for Specialty Crop Farmers (ASCF) Program assistance for specialty crops and sugar, commodities not covered through the previously announced Farmer Bridge Assistance (FBA) program.
All of these projects aim to improve the quality of life and our local economy. As a senior member of the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, I am happy to work hard in Congress so that we can continue to be reliable partners in our communityβs growth and success!

More recently, Teresa Edwards of Cairo, GA, is the most decorated Olympic basketball player of all-time, male or female, winning four gold medals and one bronze medal for USA. This living legend is one of Sports Illustratedβs "100 Greatest Female Athletes of the 20th Centuryβ.
Alice Coachman of Albany, GA, was the only American woman to win a gold medal at the 1948 Olympics in London. She is also the first Black woman of any country to win an Olympic gold medal. Alice ran track and field, specializing in high jump.
While Georgia is home to many Olympians, I want to highlight two women from southwest Georgia who have made America proud with Olympic gold!
As we celebrate yet another Olympics, I want to commend all the hard-working and dedicated athletes and coaches who impress and inspire us on the world stage. Indeed, our country produces some of the best athletes on the planet.
I will continue to work with Democrats and Republicans, including those on the bipartisan Congressional HBCU Caucus, to make sure we continue investing in university powerhouses like Albany State University and keep our country on the cutting edge of progress.
