Leverage doesn’t only come from holding more seats. It comes from moments when the other side needs your votes, and because of the filibuster, Republicans couldn’t reopen the government without Democratic support. That’s why people saw this as a real opportunity to negotiate for the ACA.

That’s typical for them, but did we actually have a plan with the 40 day shutdown? Because we walked away with nothing, so it feels like Chuck Schumer was just winging it. At this point, it’s time for him to step down from leadership.

We had leverage, but we didn’t have leadership. Please call for Chuck Schumer to step down as minority leader.

Just picked up a new book and it’s incredible. This Haida designers work transforms fashion and regalia into cultural storytelling. From dresses and jackets to traditional button robes and business wear, she’s one of the first Indigenous designers to merge formline design with high fashion.
