lol

Firstly, can confirm I’ve never had an editor at The Verge or any other publication give feedback worded like this.

Secondly, AI is godawful at writing and editing because it HAS NO EDITORIAL TASTE.

The feature, which launched in August, claims to help you “sharpen your message through the lens of industry-relevant perspectives.” When users select the “expert review” button in the Grammarly sidebar, it analyzes their writing and surfaces AI-generated suggestions “inspired by” related experts. Those “industry-relevant perspectives” include the likes of Stephen King, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Carl Sagan, among many others.

The Verge found numerous other tech journalists named in the feature, as well, including former Verge editors Casey Newton and Joanna Stern, former Verge writer Monica Chin, Wired’s Lauren Goode, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Jason Schreier, the New York Times’ Kashmir Hill, The Atlantic’s Kaitlyn Tiffany, PC Gamer’s Wes Fenlon, Gizmodo’s Raymond Wong, Digital Foundry founder Richard Leadbetter, Tom’s Guide editor-in-chief Mark Spoonauer, former Rock Paper Shotgun editor-in-chief Katharine Castle, and former IGN news director Kat Bailey. The descriptions for some experts contain inaccuracies, such as outdated job titles, which could have been accurately updated had Superhuman asked those people for permission to reference their work.

In a new post, the company now says “we hope to ship in 2026” — a vaguer timeline than the first half of 2026 goal Valve shared last month — which it attributes to the ongoing shortages of memory and storage chips.

Couple things here:

1. What the fuck
2. I am allllllmost more offended by the suggestion that I would give this shitbox edit than having my identity stolen
3. The CEO is scheduled to be on Decoder soon and we will see if they back out!

Went into The AI Doc hoping that having access to OpenAI / Anthropic / DeepMind's leaders would lead to a thoughtful analysis of how this technology is impacting society. Came out convinced that a lot of Hollywood types are too easily dazzled by AI to make serious movies about this stuff. My review:

From Casey Means' own book: "the ability to prevent and reverse" conditions like cancer and Alzheimer's "—and feel incredible today—is under your control and simpler than you think."

This week on The Optimizer, @vicmsong.bsky.social lays out how wellness influencers exploit public hopelessness.

What if your real computer was a supersized Lego computer brick? You can print one yourself!

The “M2x2” is largely a 3D-printed case for a Mac Mini — one you can freely print at home yourself — but it’s not just a shell. It's outfitted with a 7-inch IPS touchscreen display, and a full array of additional ports and SD card reader thanks to an integrated USB-C hub.
