โ“Q&A with Prof. Penev, CEO and founder of Pensoft Publishers on all things #data following the session: "Data Papers: How and Why?" hosted by the Flemish Research Data Network (FRDN), during @lovedataweek.bsky.social

1) Do #datasets have #DOIs? How are #data cited?

"At Pensoft we can do it in 2 ways: authors can cite both Data Papers and/or #Dataset. We recommend to cite both, and this is in our opinion the right way to do that" - Prof. Penev.

2) What was your main reason to start with #Data #Papers?

"We launched at the very beginning of the open data movement. As a #biologist, I saw too much #research vanish on forgotten USB drives; the fear of losing that data was my strongest motivation to start publishing #DataPapers." - Prof Penev.

3) Why would you publish Data paper, not only datasets?

"With a #datapaper you get a citation, which is very valuable for #scientist and leverage established #publishing networks to maximize #data dissemination" - Prof. Penev
