So you think killing him *strengthened* the positions of the anti-nuke coalition in Iran? I don't.

I think it made it more likely future Iranian leaders would want nukes, and it makes it more likely they would see support for it.

Ali Khamenei's fatwa against nuclear weapons - Wikipedia

Just to be clear, we were so worried about nukes that we killed the dude who issued the fatwa against developing nukes?

Thereby strengthening the position of the people who wanted nukes?

So the options are either perpetual bombing or regime change?

it’s so cool how $2000 e-bikes are coded as toys for rich elitists while $60,000 SUVs and pickup trucks are viewed as necessities for the working class

Sri Lanka takes control of second Iranian vessel a day after US sinks warship The South Asian country is caught in the middle of the US-Israeli military campaign against Iran.

Whether it was legal of not (I'm of the mind it was probably legal from a LOAC perspective), it is a terrible look. Unnecessary, militarily irrelevant, and just makes us look bad (worse?). Many easier options to achieve same effect if the objective is reducing mil power

Yeah definitely not helping the tech bro argument that "we should get rid of airplanes because OWA stuff is so cheap and way more effective"......

Now, we also run the risk of missing developments that potentially *do* make that true, but I'm not holding my breath.

And again, there has been no unclassified discussion of what exactly is challenging our forces there.

Is it numbers? Is it the drones itself? Is it their conops? Without knowing, it's unclear what the gap is.

We defended against these drones quite well in True Promise 1/2 and the 12 Day War. We have APKWS IIs on F15s/16s flying around the region. We also have been using AMRAAM, which the ukrainians use as well (well AIM-9s). Air defense across a broad area with multiple partners who don't talk to each/

I mean, I realistically don't know what they would have had to offer

We know what shaheds are, we know our way of war for now says a wall of fighters loaded w/a bajillion APKWS is the best way to down them, and we knew the math on intercept capacity, defended asset list, and overall installations

Pretty awesome background to have for a speech on nuclear deterrence (Triomphant class SSBN)

Sounds like Israeli SOF may be operating inside Iraq (presumably setting up FARPs and the like for aircraft that en route to/from Iran or ground launched munitions)β€”and some of them may have gotten into a shootout with Iraqi forces

We received a request from the United States for specific support in protection against "shaheds" in the Middle East region. I gave instructions to provide the necessary means and ensure the presence of Ukrainian specialists who can guarantee the required security. Ukraine helps partners who help ensure our security and protect the lives of our people. Glory to Ukraine!

Thankfully the Ukrainians aren’t as idiotic as we are.

This is the realist case for why you help democracies; they’ll come back to help you.

We don’t have infinite amounts of goodwill, though…..

Have they considered widespread electrification, loans and loan guarantees to solar and wind and nuclear projects, and somewhat robust vehicular mileage standards to compel more efficiency?

Is *the exact model of the IRA* under the rock, or is it just one rock with β€œDrill Baby Drill” written on it?

Idiotic people. If true this was a big foul on our part, even if the war was legal.

That's not true. But Hadrian ordered the creation of a wall spanning Britannia from coast to coast to prevent Chotiner from entering the Roman Empire to interview him.

That would require the avg reporter at those agencies to understand what THAAD is, and no THAAD is not just a character on blue mountain state

Talking around a few things: if the drones were not employed as expected, then some of our counters could be uniquely taxed in ways we didn’t anticipate.

05.03.2026 02:29 πŸ‘ 7 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I can think of a few reasons why the drone thing might be more problematic than anticipated - but those are all CONOP related, which I can actually buy as an excuse. A failure of imagination surely, but a valid reason.

Exclusive: Minutes from disaster β€” how Qatar shot down two Iranian bombers in its first aerial combat operation | CNN Iranian bombers came within minutes of striking the largest military base housing US troops in the Middle East before Qatari planes shot them down, two sources briefed on the operation told CNN.

Wild details in here. 2 minutes at Mach 0.8 is only 16 miles away. 80 feet is freaking low. You basically can’t do anything else besides focus on not hitting the water.

Odysseus had his crew lash him to the mast to keep him from doing an interview with Chotiner.

Our adversaries don’t care if you collect that sweet active duty paycheck or if you’re a weekend warrior: we all wear the same uniform.

Another reminder of why the Guard / Reserve need benefits more in line with the actual risk they face.

Reserve and National Guard troops have proportionally born far more of the brunt of combat losses over the past few years, from the USAR casualties in Jordan in 2024, the IAARNG soldiers killed in Syria in December, and now this
